Bloomington, IL – A new Center for Integrated Wellness will bring together multiple health and wellness services into a new $35 million, 105,000 square foot facility to help the community get healthy and stay well. The center will consist of a medically-based fitness center, a sports performance institute, an imaging center, anorthopedic center of excellence, physician offices, and a community education area.
New center will bring customized care, connected medical services, and preventative programs focused on community health.
The state-of-the-art center, being developed by Signet Development, one of the country’s premier developers of both public and private real estate projects, is a partnership between Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, McLean County Orthopedics, Method Sports Performance, and Sequoia Wellness, and will be located adjacent to the Advocate BroMenn Outpatient Center, across from the Central Illinois Regional Airport in Bloomington. A ground breaking ceremony will take place at the site on May 18, 2015, at 12:30 p.m.
“We are truly honored to be a part of this extraordinary health and wellness campus,” said Tony Manna, chairman of Signet Enterprises, LLC. “And our team is delighted to collaborate with Advocate BroMenn, McLean County Orthopedics, and Method Sports Performance on a project that will enhance the delivery of health care services for the community and create a community hub for all of McLean County.”
The medical fitness program will be managed by Sequoia Wellness and will include cardiovascular equipment, group exercise studios, an aquatics area, free weights and locker rooms. Different from a traditional fitness center, a medical-fitness center includes preventative health and wellness programs, helps participants manage health conditions, and recuperate from injuries or illness. Nurses and doctors from Advocate BroMenn Medical Center will be involved in patients’ activities.
“The future of health care is moving from being reactive to proactive,” said Colleen Kannaday, president of Advocate BroMenn Medical Center. “Population health is focused on keeping patients out of the hospital by treating and monitoring conditions before a hospital stay is needed, in addition to helping them recover more completely.”
The Center for Integrated Wellness will also serve as the new headquarters for McLean County Orthopedics, the largest orthopedic practice in McLean County, allowing them to consolidate operations into a central location.
McLean County Orthopedics has provided quality care in Central Illinois for over 30 years. Staffed by twelve physicians covering all aspects of musculoskeletal care, the practice offers specialized treatments, including arthroscopic surgery, joint replacement surgery, sports medicine, spine surgery, and pain management.
“This new, world-class facility allows us to offer our patients comprehensive and efficient orthopedic care including physical and occupational therapy and MRI, all under one roof.” said Jerome Oakey, MD, Vice President of McLean County Orthopedics. “This facility allows us to continue to provide personalized care combined with maximum comfort, convenience, and privacy while maintaining exceptional service and outcomes that our patients have come to expect.”
The final component of the new center is Method Sports Performance, a physician-owned sports performance institute operated by physicians from McLean County Orthopedics. Method Sports Performance will bring a unique approach to improving the performance of athletes from across the Bloomington-Normal and Central Illinois sporting community. From young people in middle and high school just starting their athletic careers to university athletes seeking to drive their performance to new heights to advanced amateurs and professionals, Method Sports Performance will help them achieve unparalleled results by employing not only its state of the art facilities but through the expert application of cutting-edge, science-driven performance improvement assessment and training methodologies.
“Method Sports Performance will combine the latest scientific and medical understandings to provide our athletes with the best possible opportunity to succeed. The assessment and training methodologies that we will be employing have been developed by university sports performance researchers and proven in the field with some of the world’s top performing coaches and athletes,” said Dr. Joe Norris, Method Sports Performance co-owner and sports medicine physician at McLean County Orthopedics. These methods include evaluating the physiology of each athlete and tailoring a program based on those findings to maximize their potential efficiently and safely.
“We believe that we are creating a true “sports performance home” for our athletes where they will be the beneficiaries of cutting-edge, evidence-based training approaches and sports medicine clinical expertise,” added co-owner and fellow sports medicine physician, Dr. Joe Newcomer.
The center was designed by Farnsworth Group and will be constructed by P.J. Hoerr Inc., both of Bloomington, Illinois. It is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2016.
